Ignored Intelligence, Rising Protests, and a Weekend of Perspective

Dear Readers,
This past weekend, from Thursday through Saturday, I stepped out of the news cycle and into something personal: my cousin’s wedding. Family gathered, music played, glasses clinked—and after the big wedding night, during a Saturday lunch, my cousin’s words stopped the room. In his speech, he spoke candidly about burying friends from the army, about learning the hard way what actually matters, and about why—after everything—he is choosing partnership, and working to build his future today.
He told his friends at the Shabbat table something simple and brave: figure out your dreams, write them down, and act on them. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Coming from him, a 21 year-old, those words carried weight. I am deeply proud of him—not only for getting married, but for the years he gave serving as a volunteer firefighter, serving in the IDF as a paratrooper and now stepping up in manhood! In his Orthodox community, many men serve through Torah study instead of army service. His choice was controversial, but he stood tall in it and ultimately – he’s been respected for it.
One note on global affairs – I saw the video US President Trump released depicting the Obamas as apes and other democrats as other wild animals. I think its absolutely abhorrent, racist, wrong and disgusting. In case anyone was confused about where I stand on issues like that. That’s not funny. The video was removed after some hours. Trump insists the video was about voter fraud.
Tomorrow—Monday—I’m back in Jerusalem, hosting a panel on business and entrepreneurship. If you’re looking to be in a room with people who are thinking seriously about building something meaningful—and sharing what worked for them and what didn’t, you’re welcome to join us. I even have a coupon code for the ticket!
